About

Anne was born in Beijing and moved to New York City where she received her academic training in finance, literature and history. It was in New York where she developed further her interests in arts, classical music, architecture, and philosophy.  Her first love was dance and she had danced with school dance troupes throughout her high school and college years.

While contemplating whether to continue her graduate study in a Ph.D program at Columbia University and working full-time in the finance industry, she took a film noir course with one of her two graduate advisors, the Parr Professor Emerita Ann Douglas who is the first female to teach in the English department at Princeton University, and watched Lawrence of Arabia. She was so captivated that she decided to follow her heart and transitioned into filmmaking.

Anne is interested in stories that examine the uncomfortable situations humans have to encounter, the imperfect nature of humans and of the world. She likes to explore morally controversial subjects, but believes that the universe is fueled by positive energy. She is curious about new technology and what it can bring to storytelling. For her, science and technology are useful and effective tools to help filmmakers to construct the narrative. They also provide different avenues for them to evolve as storytellers.

Anne is a naturalized U.S citizen. She holds an MBA in Finance from Pace Unviersity, an MA in American Literature & American History from Columbia University, and an MFA in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. She was a recipient of Galloping Horse Scholarship.
